MIKE KERNAN is delighted to announce the launch of his latest book, Stopping To Rain, the sequel to his highly acclaimed debut novel, The Fenian. The new novel tells of a teenage gang whose bond is shattered by a tragic incident that comes back to haunt them 25 years later.
Stopping To Rain is partly set in the late 1970s, a time of change for youngsters as glam rock is swept aside by punk and mullets replaced by Mohicans. Like The Fenian, it’s set in the fictional new town of Cumbride in the west of Scotland, where a bunch of pals discover love and sex, booze and bullies, friendship and betrayal. Their outrageous antics will have readers howling with laughter one minute and shedding tears the next.
Glasgow-born author Mike has been writing for a living since he was 17, as an award-winning journalist on a range of media outlets from local papers to TV news to national dailies. He spent the last 16 years of his career as Executive Editor of The Scottish Sun and still writes a column for the paper. After taking early retirement in 2017, he lectured at the University of Strathclyde.
In addition to The Fenian and Stopping To Rain, he has written a non-fiction book on angling, titled Fishing In The Sun. Father-of-three Mike lives on the west coast of Scotland with wife Margaret and is enjoying the role he reckons he was born for – as “Big Man” to grandson and best pal Jimmy.
